In the early 1900s the riverside town of New Hope became a popular retreat for artists and actors escaping big city life (Philadelphia is just an hour away, New York City less than two). New Hope, Pennsylvania is one of those ultra-charming towns that’s picture-perfect for an East Coast weekend getaway, especially since many of us are only comfortable traveling by car, if at all, at the moment. The historic building that served as Odette’s restaurant is still standing, but developers paid to move the landmark 1000 feet down the street in order to increase the footprint of the luxury hotel featuring 36 rooms and 12 suites, many with balconies that boast incredible views of both the river and surrounding mountains.

Sip signature cocktails in style as you indulge in seasonal small plates in a classic-lounge inspired setting with slate floors and luxurious floor-to-ceiling curtains. “It’s always been a magnet for people in the arts,” Carol Cruickshanks, the executive director of New Hope Arts, told Observer during a recent stroll through the town. The artwork included ranges in scope from a sculpture of three dancing women surrounded by flowers to an absolutely massive creature dubbed “Boomer” by Dana Stewart, which started out as a temporary installation in 2003 but was so beloved by the town that it’s now a permanent fixture.
